About

Owner Stephen T. Hoyt has been a resident of Westchester County, New York all his life.  His interest in building started as a young boy helping his father dismantle barns in New England and later, as a teen, he apprenticed with a local cabinetmaker. Then while in college working towards a degree in Forestry he rediscovered carpentry, which allowed him to express his creative side. At that point, he turned from a love of the woods to his love of wood and started working full time as a builder. In 1987 Stephen formed his own corporation and set out with the goal to make this business renowned for superior materials, quality craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Over the years Stephen developed a deep appreciation for buildings of historic significance throughout the United States, as well as the traditional joinery techniques used in many of them. He has been fortunate to work with many master craftsmen sharing skills and knowledge along the way. He has done extensive work for the John Jay Homestead in Katonah, New York; the Wilton Historical Society in Wilton, Connecticut; and the First Congregational Church in New Canaan, Connecticut.  Stephen spent time in West Virginia as a preservation carpentry instructor at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.  In addition, he has collaborated on projects for many other National Historic Register buildings and historic homes.  He is a member of the Preservation Trades Network
